Project Description
This project is located within a decommissioned and enclosed former thermal power plant (CHP) site in Beijing. The concept reimagines the abandoned industrial territory as an exhibition and commercial building, giving the site a new public and economic function.
The architectural idea is based on Sukuratov-inspired stylistic principles, expressed through strong geometric forms, sharp volumes, and the extensive use of red brick. The massing is sculptural and dynamic: some parts of the building rise sharply, while others remain restrained and horizontal, creating a composition that resembles an artificial mountain emerging from the industrial context. This contrast emphasizes the transformation from obsolete infrastructure into a contemporary cultural and commercial landmark.
The project aims to preserve the industrial memory of the site while introducing a new identity through modern architectural language, materiality, and spatial expression.
My Role
I developed the architectural concept, volumetric composition, and overall design strategy, including massing, façade logic, and visual presentation of the project.
